Welcome to Redland AFC

Redland defender Adrian Williams has been rewarded for his outstanding season by winning the club’s Best and Fairest award, the Dowling Medal at the Bombers Awards Night staged on Friday night

Williams (112 votes) took the lead in round 12 and was never headed polling in 12 games to win from Clay Cameron (74) with 2016 NEAFL Rising Star Hayden Bertoli-Simmonds (57) in third place

Key forward Jackson Paine (53) and Jack Rolls (44) rounded out the top five.

IF ever there has been a player who owns the title Mr Smooth look no further than our own classy Peter Yagmoor, whose left-foot and precise decision-making is beyond reproach in the NEAFL.

The talented Bomber is the very epitome of the worldly traveller, yet at the still tender age of 23, he has plenty of rough and tumble, exciting and action-packed footballing adventures ahead of him.

It’s a judgemental statement, to be sure, but I’ll stick my neck out and declare there hasn’t been a better kick in the seven-year history of the NEAFL.

THERE was a time during the opening stages of this NEAFL season when Hayden Bertoli-Simmonds felt he was personally responsible for the Bombers’ frustrating and at times devastating start when the club put together a horrendous run of five successive losses.

He had just been appointed Redlands’ captain and like the rest of the playing group was looking to 2017 with a controlled sense of confidence and hearty anticipation.

Those early season road bumps hit hard – very hard.
