Kids hand players their jumpers for 2018

A GREAT night was had on Thursday when Redland senior-listed players plus rookies were presented with their jumpers by members of the Victoria Point Sharks juniors.

A crowd of almost 150 was on hand to watch as the youngsters made the presentations and, in turn, were handed a special memento of the occasion by each player as they received their jumper for season 2018.

The junior players were thanked especially by Redland coach Leigh Harding, who hoped all of them could go on and become future players for the Bombers.

Leigh told the gathering the Bombers had undergone a solid pre-season and with a big foundation having been established were now looking forward to the season proper which starts April 7th at Scottsdale Park against Southport.

The presentations were highlighted by an ad-lib routine from forward Jackson Paine who outlined each player’s attributes as the youngsters completed the handover.

Jackson raised many a laugh with his comic routine with some suggesting he might head down to Melbourne where that city’s International Comedy Festival is presently being held.

Jackson was particularly succinct about some of the hair styles worn by the players during the pre-season and cuts some players had opted for on the eve of the new season.

Again, there were those thinking Jackson might be heading for a future amid the ranks of the coiffeurs.

The Bombers’ Operations Manager, Martin King, also said it was pleasing to see the juniors in attendance and praised the club’s president, Justin Stone, on the numbers which have now swelled to more than 400.

“It’s great for the senior players here tonight to see the next generation of players who will be coming through for this football club,” Marty told the crowd.

The presentation was attended by Federal, State and Local politicians, Andrew Laming, Kim Richards and Lance Hewlett.

Many of our sponsors attended, including Tidbold Real Estate, Volkswagen Mt Gravatt & Capalaba, Ausbuild, Yatala Truck Repairs, Victoria Point Chiropractic, Kim Richards MP,  and Victoria Point Sharks Sporting Club.
